Never let your anorak out of your sight
When West Yorkshire Brass percussionist David Holdsworth needed his band anorak in order to attend engagements in inclement weather, he discovered it was nowhere to be found.
I WONDER WHY!
In days gone by, my band and I, all got matching anoraks,
When I got mine, XL was fine, my treatment though was rather lax.
Despite its cost, when mine got lost, I couldn’t get replacement,
With fine toothed comb, I searched my home, from attic down to basement.
I was bereft, it must be left, backstage or on a bandstand,
I could get wet, I start to fret, a soggy me was not planned.
Two years went past, but then at last, despite I hadn’t worn it,
I wondered who, just might have two, t’was my mate Wilf on cornet.
He’d got his own, but should have known, he also had another,
No need to cry, ‘cos now I’m dry, and look like all the others.
West Yorkshire Brass Contributes to World Shortage of Birthday Cards
It’s less than a month since band members attended the celebration of Band President, Duncan Brown’s 90th birthday.
On Friday 17th May 2019 band members helped 2nd. Trombone, Stuart Wilson, celebrate yet another landmark birthday. Happy 80th birthday Stuart . . . . . and may you have many more.
