Another Landmark Birthday Celebration

A substantial number of members and friends of West Yorkshire Brass braved foul weather to attend the 80th Birthday Bash of our solo trombone George Mitchell in Hebden Bridge Town Hall on 29th February.

Having the dubious privilege of being born on 29th February effectively means he is really only 20 years old. Either way, the event was enhanced by two excellent cabaret spots and a wonderful Mexican themed buffet supper.

Congratulations, George. May you have many more birthdays (despite having to wait four years between each one!)

WHAT A LOAD OF OLD COBRAS

On yet another of his Moroccan recruiting campaigns, WY Brass percussionist David Holdsworth went in search of a new Principal Cornet player. Abdul was packed and ready to fly back to Leeds/Bradford when he just happened to mention that Colin the Cobra would have to come too.

Sssss..sorry Colin, no offen..sssss. We’ll do without a Principal Cornet player for the time being.

HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY CRAIG

Members of West Yorkshire Brass wished Craig (Bassbone) Russell a Happy 50th Birthday for Wednesday 22nd January even though we celebrated five days early in Bradford’s famed Corn Dolly public house. Sorry no pics ~ I forgot to take my camera! MANY HAPPY RETURNS CRAIG.

West Yorkshire Brass invited to play at 75th Anniversary of VE DAY in Worlaby

As part of their three days of celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day in May 2020, residents of Worlaby, North Lincolnshire, have invited West Yorkshire Brass to perform at Worlaby Village Hall. It is hoped the weather will permit a ‘Party in the Park’ style event (bring your own tables, chairs, gazebos, drinks and snacks). The programme is expected to reflect some music from the 1940s era.

DUE TO THE OUTBREAK OF THE CORONAVIRUS THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
