Say “Cheese!”

The band’s intrepid photographer, Elizabeth Johnson, missed a fine performance by the band at Ripon Armed Forces Day on June 24th 2017, but made up for it the following day in Beaumont Park, Huddersfield where she demonstrated that her lens is quite capable of focussing on more than the band ….. ‘Nice to see you ladies, and thank you all for your constant support’
‘And you Elizabeth for your contributions.’

Stiking a Memorable Note in Pateley Bridge

When the late Roy Newsome composed The Pateley Bridge March in 1995 to celebrate the Centenary of Pateley Bridge Show, he dedicated it to Frank Dean.

When West Yorkshire Brass played The Pateley Bridge March during their 2017 concert from the bandstand in Pateley Bridge, they didn’t expect to see Frank Dean in the audience.

LAKE VICTORIA BAND

Lake Victoria Band is based in Kenya, Africa, on the banks of Lake Victoria.

The band was started by Robert Thomas, a Leeds born brass musician, who spent most of his working life as a band trainer in the British Army. When Bob retired he settled in Kenya and decided to form a band for the local children. Through his contacts in the brass band world he was able to acquire a number of instruments most of which had seen better days, but were still capable of being put to good use by the band.

West Yorkshire Brass members are pleased to support Lake Victoria Band, having supplied them with some funding and equipment. It’s always a pleasure to see Bob and welcome him to our band on those occasions when he is able to visit the UK.
