Never let your anorak out of your sight

When West Yorkshire Brass percussionist David Holdsworth needed his band anorak in order to attend engagements in inclement weather, he discovered it was nowhere to be found.

I WONDER WHY!

In days gone by, my band and I, all got matching anoraks,

When I got mine, XL was fine, my treatment though was rather lax.

Despite its cost, when mine got lost, I couldn’t get replacement,

With fine toothed comb, I searched my home, from attic down to basement.

I was bereft, it must be left, backstage or on a bandstand,

I could get wet, I start to fret, a soggy me was not planned.

Two years went past, but then at last, despite I hadn’t worn it,

I wondered who, just might have two, t’was my mate Wilf on cornet.

He’d got his own, but should have known, he also had another,

No need to cry, ‘cos now I’m dry, and look like all the others.

And the rest of us just fill in the years between

On Sunday 28th April 2019 the newly appointed Band President, Duncan Brown, enjoyed a surprise 90th birthday party surrounded by his family, friends and a substantial number of band members. Congratulations Duncan. Nice Cake!!!

Our youngest band member, Ben Clapham, (welcome to the band, Ben!) is several decades behind Duncan.  And the rest of the band members just fill in the years between!
