An hour long West Yorkshire Brass performance in Roberts Park, Saltaire in the residue of Storm Darragh was indeed ‘parky’ to say the least.
Due to the weather, the Farmers Christmas Market event was poorly attended by the public.
The good news, however, is that our return visit in August of 2025 should not only be be better attended but a lot warmer too.
For more information see our events page for August 2025.
If you didn’t attend at St. John’s Church, Farsley on 2nd November you missed an absolute treat. One of the very best West Yorkshire Brass concerts of 2024.
At the beginning of 2024 West Yorkshire Brass could boast it had three of its founding members still within the band. Then Solo Euphonium Keith Shuttleworth retired for health reasons in January.
Now it is with much regret we have to announce the retirement of Eb Bass player Malcolm Wood. Whilst his retirement is also due to health reasons there can’t be many bands which can boast having a bass player in their 89th year.
That leaves Musical Director Peter Hellawell ‘Last Man Standing’.
Malcolm was presented with a commemorative gift on behalf of the entire band at rehearsal on 17th September 2024.
At the presentation ~ Left to right: Malcolm Wood, Peter Hellawell, Keith Shuttleworth.
