New Winter Quarters for West Yorkshire Brass

From Tuesday 4th. January 2022 the band will occupy a new rehearsal room during the winter months. Our new rehearsal premises will be at St. Andrew’s Church, Northcote Road, Undercliffe, Bradford. BD2 4QP.

It looks to me as though we may well be in our new home all year round.

A New Hunter for West Yorkshire Brass

Our regular fans and followers will remember Peter Hunter occupying the Solo Tenor Horn seat before he went to live in Ireland. However, you can’t keep a ‘Good Hunter’ down. Peter’s brother Ian has now joined WY Brass on 1st. Baritone. Welcome Ian. We hope you enjoy many years playing with your new band.

Due to Covid 19 our last AGM was 20 months ago. So . . . . .

. . . . .  WE  THOUGHT  WE  SHOULD  HAVE  ANOTHER

JUST  TO  KEEP  MATTERS  UP  TO  DATE

After the usual reading of minutes of the last meeting and reports from our Musical Director and Treasurer, members were elected to fill the following posts:-

Treasurer  ~  Betty Emberton
Secretary  ~  Keith Shuttleworth
Musical Director  ~  Peter Hellawell
Deputy Musical Director  ~  Ted Griffiths
Website Manager  ~  David Holdsworth
Librarian  ~  Ted Griffiths
Assistant Librarian  ~  Richard Brier
Responsibility for Uniforms  ~  Linda Atkinson
Responsibility for Banners  ~  Steve Hall

OTHER MATTERS AGREED WERE:-
Annual Band Dinner  ~  There being no available Friday evening dates at Cleckheaton Golf Club in October and November of 2021, it was agreed that the next band dinner be arranged for April 2022.
Also outstanding is the need to recruit  players to fill Bass and Soprano Cornet seats.
And to arrange for a new photograph of current band members to replace that on the home page of the website.

WY BRASS QUADRUPLE NEW ACQUISITIONS

When Rosalind Rowe joined the West Yorkshire Brass Tenor Horn section to sit alongside another new member, Mary Binns, little did we know she would come with a trombone playing husband. What good timing! Not long after ill health caused Second Trombonist Stuart Wilson to retire from playing, Max Rowe came along to fill the position. We hope Ros, Max and Mary will enjoy playing with West Yorkshire Brass for many years to come.

Whilst mentioning new players, it’s also appropriate to thank Richard Brier for coming along to join the West Yorkshire Brass cornet front row. Welcome Richard.

A big West Yorkshire Brass welcome to all our new members.
